Sofia and Frangipani

Through the exploration of creating Sofia in a space filled with frangipani flowers, a second figure emerged. This second Sofia is a visual metaphor for the mindfulness within the subject. Mindfulness experiencing the sensory beauty of nature through immersion in the forms, scent and feel of flowers. The painting has a simple palette inspired by the colours of the Northern Territory and palette of Renaissance painters.
